Tench

The tench has a solid, stocky body, a small mouth with two short barbels, minute scales covered with mucus. Its back is a dark green-brown colour, its sides are greenish brown with hints of gold and its belly is yellowish. It has uneven black and purplish fins. Its average length is about 25 cm and 40 cm at maximum. Its average weight is 200-400 g (maximum 2 kg). Its flesh is good, fairly oily, tender and tasty.
