The Historical “Hotel Tiferno” derives its name from the original Latin place name of Città di Castello, Tiphernum Tiberinum. The Hotel is situated in the heart of this ancient, hospitable Umbrian town and looks on to a small square and the monumental church of St. Francis (beginning XIV century): Raffaello painted his famous “Wedding on the virgin” in 1504 for this church, as well as other important works for the town’s churches.
