The Chocolate district

The city of Perugia has been identified with the chocolate from the beginning of the twentieth century, thanks to the extraordinary entrepreneurial story confectionery company that so strongly wanted to link their product to the territory, the Perugina and that gave birth to some products “myth” now known by several generations of Italians, such as Kiss and the Chocolate Luisa.

To keep alive the history and tradition of chocolate production in Perugia combine different companies that offer chocolate lovers a full immersion in flavor and greedy to know: the Chocolate Museum and the Chocolate School, both within the current set up Perugina factory; Very odd, the largest event of chocolate in Europe that takes place in Perugia in the second half of October each year and involves an increasing number of visitors, turning the entire city into a large open-air chocolate.

But the tradition of chocolate today is perpetuated in Umbria also by a network of small businesses and workshops that ensure a genuine product of high quality

These companies are in fact the heart of the design district of chocolate made by the Chamber of Commerce of Perugia with the primary objective of promoting the development of the sector and strengthen a common identity and an immediate and accurate recognition between product and territory.

Today Perugia is the seat of the International Association “The Way of Chocolate” that aims to promote the official recognition of the cultural European dedicated to chocolate that aims to consolidate and protect the cultural, artistic and historical value to the Chocolate Chocolate European quality craftsmanship.
