Cantine Perusia

A PORTRAIT OF THE WINERY

Cooperation, a shared commitment to the valorization of the territory and its wines are an important part of the history of Cantina Perusia. Far from being a last-minute enterprise, this winery, which has its headquarters in Ponte Pattoli, has been making wine for some forty years now, that is, since a sizeable group of small winemakers in the Upper Tiber Valley decided to get together to create a stronger single union. In the beginning, the wine made with the grapes grown by its members was sold by measure, but over the years the co-op set out to improve its quality and decided to start bottling. And so a modern business was born which is justifiably proud of its progress, the latest of which includes advertising and finding a market niche for themselves.

THE VINEYARD AND TERROIR

The vineyards that produce the wine-grapes grow in an area that includes the hills of Perugia all the way to the northern reaches of the Upper Tiber valley including Corciano, Umbertide, Città di Castello, Montone, Citerna and San Giustino. It is a valley with southern exposure which counts more than 300 hectares of member vineyards.

THE GRAPE VARIETIES GROWN

grechetto, chardonnay, trebbiano, sangiovese, merlot, cabernet.

WINES

Cantina Perusia produces several DOC Colli Altotiberini wines. There is Braccesco Bianco, with the classic aroma of fresh flowers and white-flesh fruits. It has a fresh and pleasant flavour. Braccesco rosso smells of cherries and on the palate it is dry and lingering.
